  • Help to build a prosperous community in 2014 by raising funds through Run Melbourne for CatholicCare’s Refugee and Settlement Program. In signing up to join Team CatholicCare you can make a BIG difference to the level of support we are able to offer clients like Jamila who has sought asylum in Australia. Jamila was released into the community with no government support; she relies on programs like CatholicCare’s Refugee and Settlement Program for her and her family’s livelihood. Jamila’s journey from Afghanistan to Australia involved walking many nights - with her husband and three year old daughter - through Malaysian forests to get to Indonesia to secure a journey to Australia. Since arriving she has lived in three refugee camps and detention centres before being released into our community. Her family had no possessions. How scared were they! Run Melbourne on July 27 is a great opportunity to meet new people and have fun, all the while raising money to help CatholicCare.
